It’s a sunny day on the beach and you’ve spent hours crafting what you believe to be the most elite sand castle anyone has ever seen…
You’re ready to sell your “3 Hour Sand Castle” course and wait eagerly as the traffic walks by you on the beach.
Hours go by and no one has bought.
You try again the next day.
Still, no one is buying.
Disheartened, you realize you are great disgrace to your family.
Sepuku is the only viable option left for you.
You sit on your knees, face the sunset, and unsheathe your Japanese steel katana.
You whisper to yourself, “さようなら残酷な世界”
(For those that are uncultured, this is a traditional Japanese samurai suicide that I’m creating because this is only reasonable way to end the story of a failed sand castle course business)
Okay, let’s pause the story there before it gets a little bit too graphic.
This is very clearly A METAPHOR for what happens to a lot of people who build out VSLs that just aren’t converting.
They spent all this time writing the script…
Recording the video…
Going back and forth with the editor…
Just to produce something that really isn’t converting all that well.
Or maybe there’s a VSL they’re currently trying to beat…
Maybe it worked for a little bit upon the first launch to the market…
But eventually it fizzled out and it’s starting to not working economically from the business owners perspective.
This is usually where I come in and get paid a nice hefty amount to fix everything so the business owner doesn’t end up committing sepuku.
Over the course of my 5 years in Direct Response, primarily working with infoproducts and physical products, I’ve generated about $30,000,000 for clients with all of my work, and $24,000,000 was from VSLs.
I’ve had some bangers that converted like crazy…
And I’ve had some embarassments that were a total and utter failure.
Here’s what I’ve found to be universally true across the board with all of the projects I’ve been on at this point in my half-decade long career:
So what I’d like to do today is to expand on those three topics so you can better understand how to get a VSL to convert.
But before we do that, I’d like to state this point…
Not all VSLs are designed for conversion, some VSLs are just for branding.
The VSL on the home page of your website is designed to help people get a quick run down of who you are and what you do.
The VSL you’re running traffic to is designed to sell a product.
While the principles I’m going to share with you apply to Conversion Focused VSLs, you certainly can use what I’m talking about with Branding Focused VSLs as well.
So let’s dive in, shall we?
