Do You Like Grass?

Methods of Planting a Lawn - Toro Yard Care BlogToro Yard Care Blog

One thing that’s helped me understand this whole idea of “thoughts create reality” is there’s a rolling delay on this effect taking place…

Think about this.

Let’s say you’re really into grass…

Nope, not weed.

Just regular old green grass…

The type of grass that cows eat…

Ya know, the one in your backyard?

And you’ve just moved into a beautiful new home with a boisterously large backyard…

However, no grass, just dirt.

You look at me and for some reason, in this metaphorical story, you’re Australian and tell me…

“Well fuck me mate I think it’s time we grow some grass, roight?”

So we head to home depot…

You know what…

No.

Fuck home depot.

We’re making a U-turn.

We’re going to Lowes…

At Lowe’s, we grab all the stuff we need.

A bunch of soil…

Fertilizer…

A bunch of grass seeds…

Sprinklers and a water system…

Shovels…

A lawn mower…

Grass nutrient stuff…

Ya know, stuff to grow grass with.

Okay, so we take all of this stuff along with a Jose, Juan, and Jesus with us back to your place…

We go back to your house and crank up the mariachi music and get to setting everything up.

We’re cracking open Fosters (you’re Australian, remember?), breaking a good sweat, and having a great time…

And within a few hours, we’re ready to go…

Everything is set in place, the sprinklers will come on twice a day, and sooner or later you’ll have an amazing bed of grass.

Okay now imagine this…

You go outside the next morning and are completely outraged that there’s not a full bed of grass in your backyard.

You’re banging on my door at 4 in the morning demanding answers…

And when I inevitably ignore you, you race all the way to Lowe’s…

You find Jose, Juan, and Jesus and start shouting at them demanding answers.

If you did that, you’d be a total dickhead, right?

Because things like grass take time to grow, right?

Well my friend, the things we’re trying to create in our life…

It takes time.

And I’ve explained this a few times in these different substack posts…

But the thoughts we’re having…

They create the reality we’re experiencing.

And if we’re not experiencing a good reality…

Well, that means we’re not thinking good thoughts.

If we’re experiencing an amazing reality…

That means those thoughts are *Italian chef kiss* outstanding.

But you have to understand that the change in our reality is not instant.

It takes time.

You need to be willing to consistently be thinking those right thoughts for 30, 60, 90, or even 120 days…

Shit, you may need to wait a year or so of thinking the right thoughts before what you want comes to you.

But if you want it, isn’t it worth it?

If not, maybe you’re wanting the wrong things.

Which is a completely different post…

But for the context of this post, I think it’s very important to remember this delay in results.

Consistency, focus, and commitment to the thoughts which line up with the reality you want…

That’s the way.

I had to remind myself this today, and I figured it would be useful for you to think of it in this silly, yet fun example I’ve written up.

All the best my friend…

Here’s to your next patch of grass mate.
