Live Your Truth

The Eye of Providence: The symbol with a secret meaning? - BBC Culture

And here we are back in Arizona.

Did exactly what I said I was going to do while out in San Diego.

Didn’t miss a single workout.

Didn’t eat any garbage.

Didn’t mess up my workflow.

And 100% it would have been so easy to just be like…

“Ah man i’m tired I don’t want to hit that work out.”

Or…

“We don’t have time to eat anything let’s go get something quick from…”

But right now I just value the man i’m meticulously crafting every day so much more than any short-term pleasure seeking.

And really almost every single decision we’re making is a direct reflection of our own personal value hierarchy.

I’m chilling right now on a rooftop with my buddy Walker so might as well expand on value hierarchies, right?
Do you know how the dollar bill has a pyramid with an eye on it?

Well, let’s break down what that means…

*read this with a jordan peterson voice*

Well, what does a pyramid mean? And what exactly does an eye mean? It’s like okay those are good questions. A bloody good place to start.

*ok back to nick*

No, but really, I don’t think many people think about just how vital that symbol is to understanding the way the world works.

A pyramid is supposed to represent the idea of a hierarchy because you clearly have a top and bottom of the structure…

And a hierarchy presents the idea that there is a definitive gap between what’s on top and what’s on the bottom…

Usually what’s at the top is the most important while what’s at the bottom isn’t all that important.

Okay, so why is the eye at the top of the pyramid?
Well what does an eye represent?

Perception. Vision. To see.

So let’s add it up…

How you view the world is of the utmost importance, nothing is more important than our perception of the world.
I don’t think there’s a better way to view the world than with truth, right?

That’s at least what’s at the top of my value hierarchy.

“Stop fucking lying” has been in my head all week from a book I recently read and I think it’s something we all need to hear from time to time.
There’s something you’re lying to yourself about.

One of them for me was always lying to myself about consistency while on work trips.

If I want to be consistent, but then I’m making excuses for not being consistent…

I’m either lying to myself about what I want…

Perhaps I’m mistaken…

Or I’m lying to myself with my excuses…

And then getting further from what I want.

Either way, if you believe truth is a fundamental cornerstone of a meaningful life, you have to live your life with it.
Not when it’s convenient…

It’s easy when it’s convenient…

Live your truth even when it’s extremely inconvenient.

And I hope my trip over the last few days helped inspire you to do the same.
