Beyond Driven Creative Brief

BEYOND DRIVEN BIG CREATIVE BRIEF The Promise We help high-level married men fix their internal world so they can become a multidimensional man that can fix their relationship with their family, reignite the passion in their marriage, and show up to dominate their world of business The Problem He went the traditional route… He got married and had kids because it's what he felt like he needed to do since it’s what his parents did too. But as the responsibilities of parenthood and their marriage or relationship continued to increase, they completely checked out and started focusing entirely on themselves and their own selfish desires. He focuses most of his time and energy on his business because it's what he’s good at and because it doesn't really require any emotion, he can be purely logical inside of his business. He keeps thinking more money will fix his problems. A vacation, a new house, a new car, new toys for the kids - he’s convinced himself that the external world will help fix the deep emotional void that exists in his home life. He has all the “stuff” but deep down inside, he knows all of that material shit doesn’t matter, because his home life is an absolute mess. The Passion of his marriage is completely gone, his wife is constantly arguing with him, she’s questioning if she still loves her husband because she’s not getting her emotional needs met and he's questioning if he still loves his wife because she doesn’t want to have sex with him. He doesn't have a good relationship with his kids, they don’t want to spend time with him. They just want to be on their phones, play video games, or do something to avoid time with their dad. He thinks it’s normal because of the time we live in, but he doesn’t want to acknowledge that it’s because his kids don’t really love him, they can’t process why just yet because they’re so young, but truthfully it’s because he doesn’t show up in their life as a father should. He may or may not be able to understand the fact that the trauma he experienced witnessing his parents constantly fight, and the trauma he experienced from poor parenting in his childhood, is now being transferred over to his kids and wife. To the world, this guy looks like a big success, he has the money and he has the business or career. The dark thought he doesn’t want to confront is the fact that the identity he’s created of being a success is only built up on monetary and business success, but if we add up all parts of his life, he’s a failure. He’s living a lie. So he runs to some form of pleasure to run away from this dark truth. Smoking weed, taking drugs, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, watching porn, cheating on his wife with prostitutes or sugar babies. He has all of these outside external sources of dopamine that he can run to and cycle through. He uses them to neglect the fact that he’s a total fuck up in the area of his family. He refuses to accept it so he just numbs the thoughts and numbs the pain with some external source of pleasure. During all of this, he’s thinking to himself, “I shouldn’t be doing this, I don’t want to be doing this, but I do it because it feels good.” There’s always the pain of regret after, and this pain is where that dark truth pops up, but he doesn’t want to listen to that voice, he just wants short-term pleasure. Not listening to that voice is causing him to self-sabotage his family, his marriage, and his business. He’s maybe gone to therapy or thought about it, but he hates therapy because it’s just someone asking him questions. “How do you feel about this or that” and the therapist dances around the truth without ever giving them the answers they’re looking for because they don’t have the answers themself. The truth is the therapist has no idea what it's like to have that dark side, they have no idea what it’s like to be wealthy and still be broke. He feels like nothing ever gets accomplished with therapy and as a result, he resents it and thinks it’s a waste of time. He wants actionable feedback and results, none of which the therapist can provide. It’s a similar feeling towards marriage counseling, he always feels like the therapist is just siding with his wife, and it feels extremely one-sided to him. “I provide for this family, how can I be a shitty father or a shitty husband?” is usually the thought that’s running through his mind during these sessions. He doesn’t want to listen to his wife, he thinks she’s just nagging him, he doesn’t want to listen to the counselor because he feels like they’re just dragging everything out to make more money on each session. They keep looking to something external to fix the fact that they are fucking up in their family life and in their own personal lives. They never really actually go to the internal because they're scared of what they're going to find. And for most of these guys, they don’t even have the ability to be introspective or feel their emotions. Usually, this is because they feel like “that’s not what a man does” they view communication and emotions as something feminine. He does anything and everything to avoid the truth that he’s not a real man. He can wear his blazers, smoke his cigars, drink his whiskey, make his money, and call other guys “brother”, but the truth is a real man shows up and cares about his family and wife. Something at some point causes him to wake up to this truth, and to come to the conclusion that he’s not writing the program, he feels like he’s not in control. Maybe it’s his wife saying she wants a divorce, it could be that they get into a massive fight and he has to start sleeping on the couch or in another room, it could be something his kids said. Whatever it is something pops up that makes him look inward. He’s now able to hear the truth, and that’s when he comes across Tim.
