Preview Line: Interesting Business Concept
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about a concept I’m trying to name…
And I think “fractal decisions” is pretty good, so I’m going to roll with that.
Basically, this concept is based on the idea that every single decision in business has two paths and there are very few circumstances I’ve seen that this doesn’t hold up.
Those two paths are basically…
1. Pain Now
2. Pain Later
If you can’t see both paths, you're not seeing the full picture and it probably makes sense for you to spend more time analyzing the decision you’re about to make.
Look, I’m all for brute force, execution, speed, and actively fucking up to start building momentum.
But when you already got momentum, mistakes are extremely costly.
To explain these “fractal decisions” I'll give you a simple example so this is easy to understand.
Let’s say you sell some service as an agency and most of your customers come from referrals…
But you want to learn cold outreach so you can increase your amount of booked appointments.
So what’s the short-term pain?
You have to learn cold email, right?
You don’t just magically learn cold email, you have to put in work to make it happen.
You have to go find leads.
You have to warm up the domains.
You have to craft an outreach message.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
All of this takes time.
Your initial pain is that you have to go and do the work, but do you see how there’s long-term success attached to this?
You are going to be able to see results in the long term assuming you actually do what you’re supposed to do.
But as I said, there’s an inverse to this…
How Does Short-Term Pleasure Show Up?
Well, it’s the exact opposite.
You continue to coast and depend on referrals…
You chose the easier route, the pleasure involves you not having to do anything.
In the beginning, you don’t have any issues but eventually, over time, the well of referrals dries up…
And you’re stuck praying for clients.
Literally, take any problem you’re faced with and you’ll see there are paths for short-term pain and short-term pleasure.
Imagine for a second that every red dot below was a short-term pain, and the blue was a short-term pleasure.
Once you complete one decision for…
“Am I going short-term pain or short-term pleasure…”
Another one appears.
And another…
And another…
If you zoom out at a high level you’ll see these two paths on every big-picture problem…
And same with zooming in on every micro-decision on a day-to-day basis.
(Hint: The secret is to go for short-term pain more often than not.)

Preview Line: Why Most Fail
As much as I love Money Twitter...
A lot of what it lacks is context.
And if something lacks context, people miss key parts of the equation which cause them to not able to understand the full picture.
Here's what I'm talking about…
You have people on Twitter who are running agencies or offers and they are posting screenshots of stripe deposits, new cars, and all the luxury shit.
You then have someone who sees their post and automatically makes the connection that…
Selling This Thing = Making Money
They then think up the genius idea, “Hey, why don't I just do what this guy is doing?”
And obviously, the goal for them is just to make money…
But again, this lacks context and it’s only part of the full equation.
They're missing context that they can't see.
A missing link.
In all reality, what it really should look like is…
Selling This Thing + (Making Customer Happy) = Making Money
If you don't have happy customers and testimonials and case studies and results, you don't make a lot of money.
It's not just as simple as make an agency and make money.
This seems obvious, but holy shit, I see so many struggle to make this connection.
You have to get a TON of results…and then you make a TON of money.
I also see people trying to constantly swap out this missing link for something else.
Whether it be running paid ads, some new offer, some new way to deliver the offer, some employee, whatever it is…
Nothing ever replaces the missing link, which is happy customers and great results.
For example, if you're running a short-form content agency for clients and they're not getting good exposure from it…
YOU HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT.
Do you just let the clients continue to complain, do nothing, and wait for them to inevitably churn?
Or do you start to ask questions, and make improvements and tweaks to make sure your customers are happy?
Again, this is the missing link that most people can't see because they're so focused on the end result…
And the context they're missing is what actually causes that end result.
Get customer results, and you’ll make way more.
You can't replace this. It'll never go away.
The only two things you're focused on before hitting $1,000,000 in cash collected is:
Getting customers AND making those customers happy.
It’s not just…
Getting customers and…
Getting customers and…
Getting customers and…
Getting customers and…
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

Preview Line: Had to continue this…
I wanted to expand on the last email I sent out because I felt like it could add some more sauce.
I discussed how the missing link for a lot of people, in general, is getting client results.
And obviously, one of the easiest and best ways to get those client results is to be the very best at what you can do.
But how do you get the best results?
At first, you need to be good at what you do.
Like, really really good.
If you’re doing email marketing for ecom brands, you need to understand automations and design front to back.
If you’re helping improve sales team performance for B2B SAAS, you need to understand sales team management and training better than anyone else…
If you’re helping book qualified appointments for local marketing agencies, you need to understand lead gen as if it’s your first language…
There’s no shortcut for this.
The only way to get really good is either you put in your hours, or you hire a coach that’s ahead of you…
That’s it.
But people moan and groan at this because of the amount of work it takers and it’s like MY GUY…
What world do you live in?
Did you think it’s EASY to get to $100k a month with your agency?
That you could just build out a funnel and set up some cold emails and *boom* you’re good to go?
Dude…come on
You have to be able to get people results, people pay you for your service because they want an ROI…
Not for shits and giggles.
So if you’re not committed to being able to put the time in to build a skill set so you can provide a service that absolutely slaps…
You’re wasting your time trying to build a service-based business.
You should go do dropshipping or something else because that delusional mentality gets you nowhere.
But if you are going this route and you want to scale, you have to realize that if you’re going the agency route…
You have to figure out how to be able to create a team that can provide the service at a quality as high as yours.
People have this strange idea that they’ll just hire someone to handle the service for them and they won’t have to do anything.
In some cases, if you pick a partner, maybe you could do that…
But for the most part, if you’re hiring employees you have to understand the skill better than they do…
Otherwise, you won’t ever be able to know good work from bad work…
Like imagine selling media buying to ecom brands, but you don’t know anything about ads…
And then you hire a media buyer to run the ads for your clients.
How are you going to explain to the client what’s even going on???
You won’t even know if the dude is messing up or WHY he’s messing up.
Scaling is great, building a team is great, but seriously…
You either need to get really good at the skillset to the point where you can get tangible results…
Or partner with someone who can handle the fulfillment and who has an existing track record.
