TCA Emails (4/2/23)

Subject Line: Nightmare Sales Appointment Preview Line: Ruh Roh I walked into their office and was really impressed with the setup… Full-blown sales floor, at least a dozen or so guys on the phone, big ole’ bell for dudes to ring whenever they closed a deal. I remember exactly what I was wearing too. It was a bit cold out, so I had on a camel brown overcoat, grey jeans, cream merino wool sweater, and YSL boots. I was looking around for the main office with the CEO who I had a 3:30 PM meeting with. I met this guy outside of a restaurant in a shopping plaza. I knew the guy he was with since he was a notable online influencer… So when I approached to introduce myself and say I enjoyed his work… Naturally, the conversation went to, “What do you do for a living Nick?” “I’m a Creative Advisor. So I write copy and build marketing systems that print cash.” Mr. Famous Influencer Guy looked at his friend and said, “You two guys need to meet.” Couple of emails back and forth, and boom I was at his office for a 3:30 PM meeting. After doing a decent amount of research on this guy, I was confident that I could 2-3x his business. He had a business that was doing $1M a month selling sales training to companies, but he didn’t have ANY online funnels or ads running. So eventually someone guides me to his audience, but this dude isn’t there, however, a slim dark haired lady was sitting there with eyeshadow on that kinda made her look like a raccoon. Assistant? Wife? Girlfriend? “Hey, I have a 3:30 PM appointment with REDACTED” “He’s just wrapping up a call, he’ll be here in just a minute.” Cool. I took a seat and took off my overcoat, the number of bodies in that office turned it into a furnace. I took a seat and was now sitting across from this lady who I now noticed was actually pretty jacked. “So you met REDACTED outside of True Food when he was with REDACTED?” “Yeah, we had a short conversation back and forth and then connected over email.” “Oh that was me you were emailing, I just set all of my husband’s appointments.” Wife. Got it. I didn’t think anything of that statement at first… But after 5 minutes go by… And then 10… And then 15… I’m starting to realize, “This dude probably has no clue we have an appointment because his wife didn’t tell him.” Right as that thought popped into my head, he comes walking in. Sits down at his desk. And completely ignores me while he’s looking at the desktop screen. “Babe you have a 3:30 appointment with this gentleman right here.” He glances at me. Glances back at his Wife. “Babe, I have a 3:30 zoom with REDACTED.” Are you fucking shitting me? I drove close to 30 minutes for this meeting and was starting to get frustrated. But I didn’t know what to do, do I just leave? That seems kind of passive-aggressive. I decided being unaffected and stoic would be the best bet. 5 minutes of kinda awkward silence go by. “Okay looks like he’s not showing up to this zoom.” The CEO stands up walks over to where I’m at and sits across from me. “Okay, so what are you selling me?” (Want To Read Pt. 2 Of This Email? To Your Super Success, Nicholas Verge Subject Line: Nightmare Sales Appointment Pt. 2 Preview Line: Ruh Roh Pt. 2 “Okay, so what are you selling me?” I remember looking at this guy and thinking… You fucking dickhead, do you have any fucking manners? Not going to apologize for being 25 minutes late? And then you’re going straight into just telling me to pitch you? I immediately reverse it on him… “That’s not how I work, I don’t even know if I want to sell you anything.” The dude immediately got defensive, leans back in his chair, and crosses his arms. “So why are you here?” Analysis complete. Asshole alpha that’s used to everyone submitting to him because he’s loud and aggressive. Got it. “Think of this like a doctor’s appointment, I am here to find out what your problems are, and if I feel like I can help you, I can offer a solution.” He was sizing me up. Hard eye contact. “You do like emails or something?” “I do a lot of things, emails are part of the equation. Let me ask you a few questions to get an understanding of WHAT would help you.” So we go back and fourth for like 20 minutes. I’m collecting data. This guy’s business is built purely off cold calls and word of mouth, with zero online funnels or digital marketing besides his Instagram page. However, I could not get him to admit a problem to me. Because things were going well. He was confident they were going to keep growing with or without my services. So I asked him how he would feel about having a brand new list of qualified leads coming to his team every single morning without cold calls or word of mouth… “I would love that.” “You don’t get that unless you work with someone like me.” “Okay so how do we do that?” I feel like I’m starting to make progress, this guy was a tough TRT-filled cookie. I outline a specific strategy for him and at the end of my breakdown, and while motioning his head to his wife behind her desk, he goes… “You’ll have to talk to her about that, she manages all that.” He then stands up, I stand up, we shake hands, and then he storms out the door to probably go do 500 push-ups and take 35 more phone calls. Fuck sake that guy was annoying, hopefully, his wife was easier. Nope. She was just as hard to deal with, if not harder. Me: “Here’s what you need to do to make this happen.” Her: “We want to do it this way.” Me: “Have you tried doing it that way?” Her: “No.” Me: “I have, it doesn’t work as well as what I’m suggesting to you.” Her: “Well that’s just not how we do things.” At this point, I’m extremely frustrated, because this is what’s running through my head… “HEY FUCK HEAD, I’VE MADE $25,000,000 FOR CLIENTS DOING EXACTLY WHAT I’M TELLING YOU TO DO, WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO REINVENT THE WHEEL.” Wooosahhhh, I’m trying to act calm even though I’m extremely frustrated. The conversation ended with her inviting me to a sales training event they were hosting that weekend so I could… “Better understand her husband and everything he teaches, that way our next conversation can make more sense.” I thank her for her time, we shake hands, and leave. No, I did not go to that event. I never hit them up again, because it was extremely clear they were going to be nightmare clients. And I had to take full responsibility for that. (Say WHAT?!) Yeah, that was my fault. If you want to find out what I would have done differently, I’ll be sending that to your email inbox this weekend. Keep an eye out for that. To Your Super Success, Nicholas Verge Subject Line: Here’s What I Would’ve Done Differently Preview Line: The Finale My previous two emails I sent out were about a NIGHTMARE sales appointment I had a while back. For those who need a refresher or didn’t read those emails, let me give you a tl;dr version of the story… 1. Met this CEO. 2. Got his email, and booked a sales appointment. 3. He shows up 25 minutes late 4. He acts like a total asshole 5. Makes me deal with his wife 6. His wife is acting like a total dumbass If you want the full story, go find those emails after you read this one. But what I wanted to share with you today was WHERE I went wrong and WHAT I would’ve done differently. If you’ve read anything in the manosphere world of women, pickup, seduction, and dating… You’ve probably heard of the term, “red flags.” These are evident signs that you should probably avoid this individual. She has a bad relationship with her dad, owns 3 cats, and does OnlyFans? To quote Richard Cooper, “She’s got more Red Flags than a Chinese communist flag parade.” I had to put up with a lot of bullshit, arrogance, and just flat-out rude behavior during that sales appointment. Do you want to know why? Because I was asking for it. On that day, in that office, I made the mistake of not respecting myself. If I can’t respect myself, why should others respect me? The second that guy was more than 15 minutes late, I should’ve grabbed my coat and notepad… Said I’ll be in contact to try and reschedule… And wished his wife/assistant a good day. 5 minutes late is understandable… 10 minutes late means you don’t really care about the person you’re meeting with… 15 minutes late is basically telling the person to go fuck themselves. Now, if I had gotten a text from him or if he popped in the office real quick to say… “Hey! Dude I’m so sorry, I have to take this call, we’re almost wrapped up. I’ll be done in like 5-10 minutes max.” That’s acceptable. Because the person is acknowledging this is not okay, they are apologizing for the behavior, and it’s mutually agreed upon that 10 extra minutes is fine. But when someone just shows up 25 minutes late… Doesn’t apologize for being late… And then tries to pull some strong-arm alpha male macho bullshit on you. You leave like a gentleman and like a professional. Truth be told, during that appointment while I was waiting there for that guy, I was thinking about leaving the entire time. But I just didn’t have the balls to get up and leave. They were a really big potential client. I really wanted their business. In fact, I was kind of in a cashflow crunch at that point and time, so it very much so felt like I NEEDED their business. And that’s what caused me to not operate from the base principle of, “Respect Yourself.” If I had left and been cordial about it, chances are the next meeting would’ve been way better. Or maybe it wouldn’t have been and these two individuals are nightmare clients and that’s just that. However, I never get to find out if that’s the case. So the point of all this story is to share with you one piece of information that can save you TONS of wasted time and energy… If someone is ever more than 10 minutes late… Doesn’t matter whether it’s on Zoom or in person… And they do not notify you that they will be running a bit behind… Leave. Be Cordial. Reschedule. Don’t make the mistake I did that day. It was only when I got home that I woke up and realized how the frame was all fucked up from the get-go. Sometimes mistakes happen! But you always need to be perspicacious enough to understand what the outputs were and if you didn’t like them… You need to understand how to mitigate those mistakes from happening in the future.
